Yeah.. so we have been getting a few things here and there to replace what we sold.

We have been in desperate need of nightstands and lamps because there is no lighting in the bedroom… which can make it difficult to see when you kind find that shirt you KNOW you hung in the closet and so on and so forth.

SO, Ryan and I made a trip to Ikea (YAY! We are SO SO happy to live by Ikea now!) and found a couple of great deals!

I should have posted these a LONG LONG time ago… but WOW! I have been busy!

My life has definitely changed tremendously since Ryan and I moved to Seattle at the end of last year. I went from not working and having PLENTY of time to sit at the computer and write blog posts and such, to working constantly, trying to concentrate on finishing up my Bachelor, finding ways to get involved in Seattle, and getting the privilege to participate in loads of other fun things!

HOWEVER…. I definitely want to continue House to Home…. so I am taking time to share some awesome pics of our apartment that we moved into at the beginning of the year.

These are the “before” pictures, and I will add some of the decorating progress as we continue to add decor!

So that’s it! We have been living here for three months now and still absolutely LOVE it!

Now that we are moved in and have our office set up, I will get back to blogging. I’ve missed it the past several months! A new place means new decor and a fresh space to design. =)

So a little bit about us…

Ryan and I have officially been in the Seattle area for a month… One whole month already! Craziness! Thankfully, I got a job at David’s Bridal the week after we arrived, and my husband started his new job a little over a week ago! YAY!

We were able to spend a cozy little Thanksgiving with my family. (They weren’t able to get rid of us seeing as how we are still crashing at their place! Haha!)

Now that we are both working and starting to get some cash flow, the next step for us is to get into an apartment. We went out to look at some of the apartments in the Belltown area and found several we liked and several we didn’t… so the hunt is officially on and we are hoping to get into our own place by the end of December or beginning of January.

Once we are there, my blogging will definitely resume! We are starting from scratch as far a furniture and decor goes because we got rid of as much as possible in TN before we headed this way.

One thing that I am excited about is the giant West Elm right downtown! I haven’t been inside of a West Elm yet, but you better believe I will be spending some time in that amazing store!

Anyway… that is all for now. I hope everyone had an amazing Thanksgiving and has a fantastic Christmas! Don’t forget about me, I will be back!!

The wall paper border is the first project. I am normally not a fan of wall paper border period, but my mom had seen a border that looked like red tin. It reminds me of the tin back splashes you can buy at Lowes or Home Depot. My mom never could find anywhere to buy the border, so she decided to attempt it herself. The results are amazing! Here’s what she did…

First, she found a paintable, patterned border that she liked. She rolled it out on a table and painted it with a red satin finish paint.

After the paint dried, she applied a coat of metal glaze over the top of the red paint.

When the glaze dried, she lightly applied a bronzing rub to parts of the raised design.

So here is the border that was up already…

And here is the new DIY border up in its place!

You can really see a difference in this side by side comparison!

This project didn’t cost too much in supplies, but the results are awesome! I love the tin/metal look of the border. What do you think?

We have felt for several years that we would be starting a church in Seattle at some point, and these open doors and a series of revival services in our home church have set the ball rolling. We are so excited about the future, and we may soon be permanent residents in the great city of Seattle!

My posts may be few and far between for the next month or so, then again, I may find lots of inspiring things to share with my readers!

We could definitely use the prayers of each of you during this transitional time in our lives.

I painted them and put them in place, but I never could find the drawer pulls to put on them. We have been using theses babies sans drawer pulls for about two years. I know…. ridiculous!

So I found this awesome Ikea hack tutorial and fell in love with the brass card file pulls! I ordered some on Ebay and put them on my end tables last night. I LOVE the way they turned out!

What do you think? I’m excited to finally have the end tables DONE! YAY!
